Seams & Dishwasher
Seam placement depends on many variables including slab size, layout configuration, material type, accessibility for installation, stone movement, sink placement and other factors. In general, a seam over a dishwasher is avoided, however in rare situations, a seam over the dishwasher is the best option given all other parameters of the job.
The concern is support! When this occurs a couple of options are available.
*** Locate the seam near one side of the opening and a few L brackets connected to the side of the cabinet to give support.
*** Along the back wall support, a metal L channel or wood, leaving space for dishwasher.
* Another option could be to epoxy re-bar and mesh the countertop after installation. This is more difficult and does take more time, but is an option.
