Countertop Installation ...Installer Key Points & Reminders
As an installer, we ask that you keep in mind and exercise the following key points. Our success is directly connected to your success:
Tools, Materials and Truck Pre-Check
Make sure tools, materials and correct job countertops are loaded on truck and secured prior to starting travel.
Make this same check before leaving each job!
Safety
Lifting safely is very important. It is also very important to make sure the work area is safe. Inspect the area prior to starting the installation. Stretch before lifting and use proper body mechanics.
Caulking
Backsplashes are caulk to countertop using 100% silicone caulking. If desired, silicone caulking may be used between countertop and cabinet. Installers do not caulk between cabinet and walls. This is left to wall finishers who use paint-able caulking.
Shims
Various thickness of shims may be required in order to give the countertop support about every 12 inches. Clear 100% silicone caulking is then used between the countertop bottom and cabinets. Shims are require to give the countertop support. Silicone is important, but does not support countertop down pressure.
Stoves & Appliances
At every job, the installer must measure the stove opening and the stove (which must be on site) to make sure the stove opening will accommodate the stove. Do not move appliances in place, but do measure to make sure the opening is adequate. A standard stove is 30", however measurement is mandatory. It is best practice to take a photo of this measurement, front and back. Use the stove template square if on truck, but make sure it matches the on site stove.
