Natural stone contains unique characteristics that are specific to a natural product and the resulting countertops.

Characteristics often include, visual patterns, inkblot type images, stress lines, fissures, color variations, distinct color patterns that may contrast at seams, pitting and even chip fill spots can be part of a natural stone. If you embrace these unique and special characteristics and the natural look they help create, natural stone may be the material for your countertop!

Natural stones do required maintenance, mainly cleaning and general care. This will vary depending on use, stone type and type of cleaning agents. Below is a quick rundown of each of the different natural materials with key avoidance & care notes.

Marble: Keep well sealed to help avoid stains and tarnishing or etching from acids. Soap & water clean or cleaner sealer. No harsh chemicals, as they may etch the surface. Hot plates & cutting blocks always recommended. Wipe spills off immediately. Consider an upgraded long term sealer.

Dolomite: Keep well sealed to help avoid stains and tarnishing or etching from acids. Soap & water clean or cleaner sealer. No harsh chemicals, as they may etch the surface. Hot plates & cutting blocks always recommended. Wipe spills off immediately. Consider an upgraded long term sealer.

Travertine: Keep well sealed to help avoid stains and tarnishing from acids. Soap & water clean or cleaner sealer. No harsh chemicals, as they may etch the surface. Hot plates & cutting blocks always recommended. Wipe spills off immediately. Consider an upgraded long term sealer.

Granite: Keep well sealed to help avoid stains and tarnishing. Soap & water clean or cleaner sealer. No harsh chemicals, as they may etch the surface. Wipe spills off.

Quartize: Keep well sealed to help avoid stains and tarnishing or etching from acids. Soap & water clean or cleaner sealer. No harsh chemicals, as they may etch the surface. Wipe spills off.

Soapstone: Keep oiled for best protection & enhanced look or leave natural for the natural look. No harsh chemicals needed for cleaning. Hot plates & cutting blocks always recommended. Wipe spills off.

Slate: Keep oiled for best protection & enhanced look or leave natural for the natural look. Hot plates & cutting blocks always recommended. Wipe spills off.
